Compatibility & Important Information

Steam Games: The Steam Machine runs SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system designed for Steam gaming. Many Windows PC games can run using Valve's Proton compatibility layer, but not every Steam game is supported. Compatibility may be limited by anti-cheat software, game launchers or other technical requirements. Check individual Steam game compatibility information before purchasing.

Controller Not Included: This listing does not include a Steam Controller or any other gamepad. The Steam Machine supports compatible USB and Bluetooth controllers, keyboards and mice, which can be purchased separately. Controller functionality may vary between games.

Display Compatibility: HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections support compatible high-resolution displays. Valve targets 4K gaming using upscaling in supported titles, but actual rendering resolution, graphics quality and frame rate depend on the individual game and settings.

Internet & Steam Account: A Steam account and internet connection are required for initial setup, downloading games and accessing Steam's online services. Some installed games support offline play, while others require an internet connection.

Storage: The console includes a 512GB NVMe SSD, with some capacity reserved for SteamOS and system files. Additional compatible microSD storage can be purchased separately.

Power: The Steam Machine features an internal power supply supporting 110-240V AC. The supplied power cable and plug type should be checked to confirm suitability for UK wall sockets.

Game Format: Steam games are downloaded digitally. The Steam Machine does not include a built-in disc drive and cannot directly play physical PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo game discs.
